As a result of the partnership between the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the ESMO Summit Latin America 2024 will be an event to update the main topics in clinical oncology, specially focused on integrating young oncologists.
In the program, the panels will feature content that will draw a parallel between European and Latin American realities and guidelines. Speakers from Europe and Latin America will participate in these roundtables.
In addition to discussions about the latest developments in some of the main oncological subspecialties, there will also be sessions focused on research and education, with lectures and workshops on clinical research and modules aimed at recently graduated specialists.
This will be the second time that this event will be hosted in Brazil, as the country hosted it in 2019 in the city of São Paulo, when it was held by means of a collaboration between SBOC and ESMO. In addition to the capital of the state of São Paulo, the meeting has already been held in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Mexico City (Mexico).
In recent years, ESMO has also organized summits in cities in Africa (Cape Town, South Africa), the Middle East (Dubai, UAE), and Asia (Penang, Malaysia) in an effort to disseminate oncological knowledge beyond Europe.
